Kids Alive is helping parents ensure children gain more confidence in the water this summer, offering a series of free online swim support sessions.
The sessions are designed to reinforce regular lessons and allow parents to learn how to enhance their children learn to swim journey.
Emma Lawrence, Managing Director of Kids Alive and also a qualified swimming instructor, will host the sessions.
“The summer months are when the most drownings occur, with swimming pools being the leading location for drownings of kids under 5,” Emma said. “These sessions are a support to help parents improve their child’s water skills faster, no matter what level they are starting at.”
“They do not replace formal swimming lessons though and I urge parents to get their children into lessons as soon as possible, as the skills children acquire are lifesaving.”
The online sessions will run throughout February, with a new session hosted through the Kids Alive Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/kids.alive.do.the.five every Friday at 2pm AEST.
“Parents can follow detailed instructions from a qualified swimming instructor, showing key things kids should learn at different stages of the learn to swim journey,” Emma said. “Each session will be available to parents on our Facebook for a week, before the next session is posted.”
