On Saturday 23rd January, water safety advocate Laurie Lawrence and one of the Kids Alive costume characters Lifesaver Lil attended the Tasman Regatta at Nubeena.
Laurie spent the morning with Royal Lifesaving Tasmania, who had an education tent set up for the day to share water safety messages with the local community.
Laurie, Lifesaver Lil and the RLSS mascot Lochie the Lifeguard, performed the Kids Alive – do the five jingle with children, parents and grandparents who were participating in the event.
A highlight for the locals was the performance from two lions ladies who came off their sausage sizzle duties to sing the kids alive jingle with Laurie’s granddaughters Evie and Harper Reid.
The distribution of the Kids Alive water safety packs including the 4 books, music CD and DVD supported by the Australian Government was a highlight for the children.
The Tasman Ragatta was a full day of fun for locals with events including fishing competitions, pleasure boat races, crab races, triathlon, biathlon and a bay swim.
The end of the day was celebrated with the Tasman Feast at the Nubeena Receeation Grounds. It seemed everyone from the community attended the feast to enjoy local produce from the Tasman and Forestier Peninsula.
