Kids Alive Costume Characters
Thanks to the Australian Government, Kids Alive has 15 new costume characters to share with the community to help raise awareness on water safety. This strategy builds on the highly successfully water safety pack for early learners which is used in early learning centres and swim schools throughout Australia. Kids Alive has distributed more than 135,000 packs since September 2015. Research conducted by Professor Robyn Jorgensen from Canberra University, highlighted the desire of parents and educators to have access to the characters for interactive education, so Kids Alive and the Australian Government acted. These costumes include 5 of each of the Kids Alive characters Boo, Wise Owl and Lifesaver Lil. These costumes will be shared between water safety organisations, child care centres, swim schools and community groups to help engage with children under the age of 5. The great news is that there will be no cost to hire these costume characters. The only costs associated to interested parties will be for the postage of the character to and from the venues.
Many stakeholders have also started to come on board to help in distributing the costumes and making them more accessible to the community. As well as being available from the Kids Alive office, the characters are also available through AUSTSWIM in South Australia, The Australian Child Care Alliance Queensland and Poolwerx.
