Learning to swim is a life skill every child should have!
Kids Alive has been a proud partner of the annual Learn2Swim Week water safety initiative since 2014. Now in its sixth year, the aim of the event remains the same; to give every child under five the chance to experience learning to swim via free swimming lessons during the week-long event.
This year Learn2Swim Week, a Poolwerx initiative, will be held throughout Australia from 30 September – 7 October and Kids Alive is calling on all swim schools to get involved and show their support for water safety initiatives in their local communities.
Tragically, we know that children aged 0-4 years are at the highest risk for both fatal and non-fatal drownings. The ability to swim is one of the most important factors in reducing the risk of childhood drowning, so we need to introduce more kids to water familiarisation and swimming lessons as early as possible.
Laurie’s swim schools in Queensland and New South Wales are once again participating in Learn2Swim Week and he is encouraging swim schools and parents alike to get behind the initiative.
Swim schools interested in participating in Learn2Swim Week can head to https://learn2swimweek.com/register-your-pool/ to sign up.
Bookings for children under five can be made after August 21. To find your nearest participating swim school, simply visit https://learn2swimweek.com/registrations-open-soon/ and type in your postcode and contact the school directly about free lessons during Learn2Swim Week. If there are no swim schools listed in your area, make sure you give your local swim school a call and tell them about Learn2Swim Week!
The more kids we educate about respecting and handling the water, the closer we will get to our goal of zero drownings.
